Here at The Cupcake Doctor we strive to provide budget-friendly baked good options for those with special dietary needs. We offer a continuously expanding range of treats that are gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, vegan, and otherwise allergy-friendly. These products are not yet offered on a daily basis in the shop and need to be ordered in advance. The minimum order is a half-dozen (same flavor), and the price for 12 is $32 for gluten-free, sugar-free, or vegan cupcakes. Our gluten-free & vegan cupcakes or any double-combo are $36 for 12. Our allergy-proof cupcakes (vegan, gluten-soy-corn-free) are $36 per dozen. When we bake these cupcakes we have to bake them first, and bake them in small batches, which hurts our bottom line. The increased price does not cover our lost productivity, so baking these treats at these prices is a service. We also have a mandatory, non-refundable pre-pay on allergy orders.
Many of our products contain or may come into contact with common allergens, including wheat, soy, nuts, milk, and eggs. Our bakery is largely devoted to baking goods for the general consumer. What we can promise you is that we use the utmost care in baking for our gluten-free and other allergy-suffering customers. We buy the appropriate allergy-friendly goods and bake those products first thing in the morning (with our cleaned and sterilized equipment) to avoid contamination.
We can also say that we've been doing this for five years now and have never received a complaint or remark over an allergic reaction stemming from any of our allergy-friendly goods, and we plan to do our very best to keep it that way. But we just can't absolutely guarantee these products; some circumstances may be beyond our reasonable control and subject to your level of sensitivity.
To our gluten-free customers in particular, we advertise that we offer nearly all of our flavors in GF versions, and we do. However, it's been published that there are different levels of sensitivity to gluten. If you know that distilled liquors (such as Baileys, vodka, or kahlua, which are technically supposed to be gluten-free) still give you reactions, do not order from those Happy Hour selections. We use popular brands in our cupcakes. In addition, if you have reactions to peanut butter (for instance, JIF and other brands say they are made in facilities in proximity to allergy-unfriendly products), do not purchase our peanut-butter containing products.
If you ever have any comments or questions about our methods or ingredients, we are always happy to speak with you. We take your concerns seriously, and promise to provide you with the best goodies and service we can.
